The device provides a safe and simple method of the manual extraction of 99mTc eluate for the preparation of other radiopharmaceuticals. Its purpose is to reduce the risk of exposure and contamination of employees handling radioactive solutions.

It facilitates maintaining aseptic conditions when preparing solutions for injection application. The device should be used indoors at a fixed location. It should be used on a steady horizontal surface and behind protective lead glass (shield corresponding to approximately 6 mm Pb). With a vial containing 99mTc eluate and with an extraction and a vent needle inserted, the assembled device allows diluting the 99mTc eluate in the vial to the required volume activity. With successive extractions into syringes, it allows drawing and possibly further diluting the 99mTc eluate to the required total and volume activity (when diluting, first draw the appropriate volume of saline solution and then the 99mTc eluate from the device). The activity of the solution extracted into the syringe is measured directly during extaction being displayed directly.
